In the Fall/Winter of 2016, the local workforce development areas comprising the Hampton Roads Region, which consists of Chesapeake, Franklin, Isle of Wight, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Southampton, Suffolk and Virginia Beach, prepared the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) 4-Year Strategic Workforce Development Plan for the Region. The new plan seeks to respond to the current and foreseen challenges faced by the local and regional workforce systems and provides a framework for policy direction over the next four year period. In accordance with state planning guidance, the draft regional plan was made available for review and public input for a period of 30 days.
